STEP ONE:  SCHEDULING A CONSULTATION

At SCOTT JAMES LAW, real-time video conferencing has become familiar to us in everyday life.

An initial ideally in-person meeting involving Attorney and client is preferred. However, we also offer private and secured virtual consultations to our clients.

SCOTT JAMES LAW also offers and utilizes on the spot in-office client virtual consultations, as a modern way of delivering traditional consultations to our clients.

After you have made contact with our Office, we will  advise you of the relevant details regarding  the consultation.

STEP TWO: THE MEETING/CONSULTATION

You are perhaps in a sticky enough situation that has caused you to seek legal advice and you may have a million questions and concerns. During this process, we aim to match the appropriate solution to your legal matter and offer legal advice, guidance and recommendations regarding your matter.

If our Office will represent you,  you will be advised of the terms/scope of our representation during the attorney-client relationship and where necessary, you will be presented with a Letter of Engagement.

Depending on the type of matter, if you have documents that you think will assist and are relevant to your legal issue, bring them to the meeting. If, for example, you are negotiating a lease and want it to be reviewed, you should bring a copy of the draft lease. Or if you met in a motor vehicle accident and have relevant documents to support your claim you should take them to the meeting.

By the end of your meeting, you should leave with a clear understanding of what you have accomplished and what is ahead.

At SCOTT JAMES LAW, we believe this step is important, not just for exchanging information about your case, but also for building rapport and trust.

STEP THREE: AFTER THE MEETING/CONSULTATION

You may be asked to provide additional documents or information pertaining to your case so it can be reviewed in more detail. Ensure that our Office has your most up to date contact information on your Client In Take Form, so that you can be advised of developments related to your matter.

At the hallmark of the attorney-client relationship is trust, communication and mutual respect. We are accessible and reachable to our clients. Time is also important as we aim to achieve the best outcome for you. Therefore, be sure to follow through on whatever you are asked to do. Your full cooperation will be needed.
